The Learning Space
Stop by the Maritime Museum every Sunday for these free family-friendly crafts. Kicking off in May, there will be a new nautical craft every month for crafty kids to make and take. No need to book, just come by for a relaxed day by the water.
May: Signal Flag Bunting
Learn the nautical alphabet and create your name out of signal flags to hang on your wall at home.
June: Sea Creature Puppets
What creature might you meet under the sea? Create your own sea creature puppets to take home.
June Matariki Special: Te Awhiorangi, navigation by the stars with Te Toki Voyaging Trust
Celebrate Matariki with us on Saturday 22nd & Sunday 23rd June in the blow-up star globe and create your own Matariki print. Bookings required.
July: Rope Making
Make a rope from colourful yarn and learn nautical knots that you would use on a boat.
August: Windsock Workshop
Learning the way the wind blows is important for all captains to know, create your own wind sock to use as a guide for wind direction and speed.
September: Crafty Captain hats
Make and take home your own captain hat.
