Explore a tiny, hidden world with microphotography! Using microscope tricks, artist of our newest exhibition Into Ocean & Ice, Peregrin Hyde, creates eye-popping artworks that mix science with art. His close-up photos reveal the mind-blowing details of things too small to see with the naked eye. Get ready to blow up the tiny secrets of our universe!

Tamariki will design their own scientific slide! After snapping a photo of their masterpiece, they'll get an polaroid print to take home, and we'll send them the digital version as well.

This workshop is recommended for children aged 8+.

Meet Peregrin Hyde

Peregrin Hyde (Ngāti Maniapoto) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, Aotearoa, with roots in Ōtautahi and whakapapa linking me through Ngāti Maniapoto to Te Rohe Pōtae and Kāwhia, as well as Scottish and English ancestry. With a background in environmental education, his visual arts encompases, microscope photography, video, music, sound design, 3D modeling, education, and jewelry-making.
