Join us on a special sailing trip aboard our heritage scow, Ted Ashby, to witness the start of the Ocean Globe Race. You'll be amidst the spectator boats and can watch the race yachts set sail on the third leg of their epic 8-month journey around the world. Ted will sail out to the start of the race, offering a front-row seat to see the vessels as they navigate their way towards Punta Del Este in Uruguay.
The Ocean Globe Race (OGR) is a fully crewed retro race in the spirit of the 1973 Whitbread Round the World Race commemorating its 50th anniversary this year. The Auckland stopover (and half-way mark) will take place from 14 December – 14 January. The theme this year is 'retro' meaning participants can't use GPS, mobile phones, or computers, and they can only listen to music on cassette tapes.
